Hey, I’m Krissi.
I’m the Head Instructor at my South Korea-based English academy and the founder of a small, successful content marketing company, The Write Hustle.
I work these jobs simultaneously and, more importantly, it’s my goal to help more women create their own success by working on their own terms.
After graduating from university in 2009 with $60,000 USD in student loan debt and holding a few demanding and soul-sucking sales jobs, I realized I needed a change.
By Christmas 2011, I was broken. I was living in Portland, Oregon, and knew I needed a drastic change to get me out of my personal slump and a job that would challenge me in more consequential ways. So, I decided I would move to South Korea for a year and teach English.
I spent much of 2012 slowly preparing for this great change and by February 2013, I was on a plane headed for Seoul.
Long story short, what I expected to last a year turned into more than five. After my first two years, I went from being a teacher to becoming the Head Instructor at my branch. But while I was loving my job, I still wasn’t making enough to tackle my massive debts. I needed to make more income, but I was worried about losing my work visa – a common problem many of my peers in the EFL industry faced as well.
Because having a valid work visa is like having the golden ticket, if you screw up, you’re kicked out of the chocolate factory and sent back home.
But then in 2015, something amazing happened! A former friend from college approached me with an opportunity: Helping her with her growing Content Marketing business by taking on extra work she couldn’t handle. Before I knew it, I’d started a content marketing side-hustle (with all of my earnings going through a US bank account), and I knew I’d found a perfect solution.
Where I Am Now
In 2017, I launched my own freelancing business: I’ve worked with countless business owners in a blur of industries, paid down massive amounts of student loan debt, and had extra money to travel more while living abroad. Best of all, I’ve never once compromised my work visa.
Over time, I realized that I had stumbled, inadvertently, onto a secret so many other expats were oblivious to: That you can work for a foreign business while creating additional income in your home country online, and never jeopardize your work visa or other life-work agreement with your country of residence.
After a while, I didn’t want to keep the secret anymore. As I met more and more friends – fellow teachers and military spouses alike – I knew I had a wealth of information I could share that would benefit them, too.
Guess what? You can create your own work and make good money doing it.
I’m here to teach you how to do it.
Who You Are
If you’ve read this far, I’ve got a few questions for you:
- Are you living abroad and looking for ways to make a little extra money on the side that won’t come back to haunt you?
- Are you a military spouse who has tried desperately to get hired for a coveted position on post only to be passed over for reasons you can’t fully comprehend?
- Are you interested in paying down debt faster but don’t want to slave away at low-paying part-time jobs or in pennies-on-the-hour “gig economy” positions?
- Do you have high dreams of eventually quitting your full-time job – maybe to travel the world or live in another country for a while?
Guess what? You can create your own work and make good money doing it. I’m here to teach you how to do it.
