“Krissi’s writing retreat was such a wonderful experience! It was inspiring to share ideas and hear other people’s work, which gave me fresh perspectives for my own project. The retreat provided a warm and collaborative space where creativity flowed easily. The venue was fantastic, the writing prompts and activities were both fun and thought-provoking, and the delicious snacks added an extra touch of comfort. A truly uplifting and motivating retreat—I left feeling energised and full of new ideas!”

WHAT TO EXPECT

THE PLACE

The moment you arrive, “the island of the gods” makes you want to slow down, breathe deeper, and create.

When you step outside the airport, you’ll be in the thick of it: temples, local markets, scooters buzzing by, and daily life unfolding in the most vibrant, grounding way.

Bali is both peaceful and alive—the perfect mix to help you drop in, tune out the noise, and write.

THE EXPERIENCE

Once you arrive, you won’t want to leave. We’ll have a private chef whipping up fresh meals made with local ingredients.

Days start and end with a writing session, plus a few mid-day sessions during our week. We’ll also have some excursion time to experience the island, hosted by our private tour guide, Nanta Ajuzz. When the sun dips, we’ll gather for dinner, connection, and writing salons.

THE WRITING

Come drop into writing sessions designed to unlock what’s been buried under your to-do list (or self-doubt). We start with a simple grounding, then dive into writing prompts that draw out raw, true, and unexpectedly beauty and insight.

And there are no red pens here: We use the Gateless method. We read our words aloud and witness each other with zero judgment. Feedback is all about what’s working in your writing.

THE SCHEDULE

Our schedule is a blend of structure and flexibility, and no two days will be exactly the same.

Mornings will start with nourishing breakfasts, and the rest of the day will vary. We may have a writing salon or start with an excursion into the busy-but-slow world beyond the villa. There will also be time to nap, write on your own, go for a swim, or read by the pool.

Evenings bring us back together for dinner, conversation, and an end-of-day writing salon.

TRAVEL AND COST

You’ll fly to I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport (Denpasar - DPS), and from there, I’ll assist you with securing a private driver to bring you straight to our retreat villa.

Early bird registration: $2,200 USD
Regular registration: $2,550 USD

Your retreat registration cost covers a room in our boutique villa, all chef-prepared meals, daily writing salons, curated excursions, and all retreat materials. Flights, travel insurance, spa treatments, and personal shopping are not included. Payment plans are available.

THE RESULT

You’ll leave Bali with more than just fresh pages—you’ll leave with momentum.

This is a place where everything shifts: you’ll stop waiting, start trusting yourself, and finally give your ideas the time and care they deserve.

You’ll return home with new writing—yes. But also with a renewed sense of writing flow and community.

“It can be a challenge to find others who share your interests, especially if your hobby is particular, like writing. Bonding over this skill and passion, plus receiving feedback from others who can guide you and your work was invaluable for me. If you are feeling uninspired, isolated, or simply stuck in your craft, I recommend Krissi's retreats for a jolt; each aspect is well planned and well executed. I hope to meet you at the next one!”

  • Elena Tsoy

“I just graduated and was feeling lost and stuck and I hadn't done any writing in months! I went to the writing retreat nervous that I wouldn't be able to write anything. But thanks to Krissi's incredible effort in the Retreat, her exciting prompts, encouragement, and her contagious enthusiasm, I got into the writing flow right away. I came out of the Retreat feeling refreshed and inspired as a writer. It was an amazing opportunity and I can't wait to see what else Krissi will come up with in the future!”

  • Catherine Garrity

“I really enjoyed the writing retreat with Krissi. The sessions were inspiring, supportive, and gave me the space and structure I needed to grow as a writer. Krissi created such a warm and welcoming environment, and I left not only feeling more confident in my writing but also with new friends and meaningful connections that made the experience even more special.”

  • Elizabeth Krebs

“I had such an amazing time on this writing retreat with Krissi! It was a girls weekend I didn’t know I needed and came away with an amazing experience and some new friends! I loved the intimacy of the small group discussions and feedback from seasoned writers. There was real connection and genuine encouragement from the other ladies on this retreat. I highly recommend this experience for anyone who is interested!”

  • KC Washington

“Krissi’s writer’s retreat was a high-energy, low-stakes affair. At the beginning of a new novel, in search of support, as well as a much-needed kick in the pants, I joined 3 other writers over a long weekend. Driver provided writing prompts, time to present original work, and snacks in a lovely, spacious environment. The feedback from both Driver and the other participants was instructive and kind. It was a great experience for my first writer’s retreat.”

MEET YOUR HOST

MEET YOUR HOST

Hey there, writer! I’m Krissi.

I’m a writing coach and all-niche ghostwriter. I’ve helped dozens of writers, entrepreneurs, and creatives go from “I think I have an idea” to “I got published” with The Gateless Method of writing.

My own work has been published in The New York Times, The Guardian, Business Insider, and more.

Now, I’m bringing Gateless to Bali.

Bali captured my heart more than a decade ago when I went for my first visit.

I knew that of all the places I’d ever visited or would visit in the future, my heart would be at its happiest and most content on the “island of the gods.”

Now, I make at least one trip there every year. I’d love for you to join me.
